New Year's Resolutions? uh, sure why not?

I think I've done serious New Year's resolutions uh 1 year.  Way back I don't even remember when.  This year I've decided to have one resolution: I AM GOING TO GRADUATE COLLEGE BY GOLLY.  When I graduate this December I will have been in school in one capacity or another for 8.5 YEARS.  Enough already, I'm done.

Do I want to lose weight?  Sure.  Find financial freedom?  You bet. Maybe I'll do a little of those things this year.  Maybe not.  So long as I graduate, I'll feel successfull for the year.  Kind of low standards.  Ask me how much I care.

Here's to your resolutions and hoping they are fulfilled. Or not, whatever floats your boat.  It's your boat afterall.

Until next time,
:)

The gift of fast reflexes

I consider myself to have very fast reflexes, this as well as my brain being programmed right help me out often.  There's a major intersection in Murfreesboro that about 100 feet from the intersection is a train track.  It's actually impressive how the stop light works with the train tracks to prevent a buildup in the intersection, and hopefully keep people from killing themselves on the tracks.

Well one night I was coming home from work and I guess I hit the intersection just right because I turned right onto the road with the train tracks and barely saw the red flashing lights before I heard the train horn blaring.  Out of instinct I slammed on the breaks and THEN the light bars started coming down, when the train was within 100 yards of the intersection.  Keep in mind it's about 5:30pm, so it's not like anyone was driving home from work or anything.  *sarcasm*

As I sat there and stared blankly at the train, I couldn't help but be thankful for the reflexes to hit the brakes before the tracks.  Who knows what could of happened.

Be safe Until next time,
:)

Why I'm a better driver when I'm on the phone

A couple things: I know you're yelling at me right now.  Sounds something like you can't be a better driver if you.....blah blah blah.  So...
1. SHUT UP.  Hear me out.  Then you can rant at me...in the comments...which I moderate (muahahahaha).
2. By on the phone, I mean either bluetooth or with my fancy iPhone headphones.  I DO NOT MEAN HOLDING THE PHONE TO MY FACE.  And I do NOT text and drive.

OK.  So here's my argument.  Sometimes I can get in a hurry to go to or from places, and so my speed tends to go up.  But if I'm on my headphones chatting away, I'm less likely to notice that I'm going the speed limit behind another car.  I'm also less likely to weave in and out of traffic.

Maybe it's not the end of the world if only 90% of my focus is on driving.  I'll admit to being capable of aggressive driving.  And I'm easily annoyed by "stupid" people "in my way".

Maybe I'm wrong.  I don't know.  All I do know is I'm a calmer driver when I'm a)on the phone or b)listening to Christmas music.  Imagine my calm state doing both :o

And as for the comment moderation, I really only moderate for spam and appropriate content/language.  So opinion away.  Even if I disagree, keep it clean and I'll post it.

Until next time,
:)

What is Christmas music?

I LOVE Christmas music.  Could listen to it every day all year love it.  Recently, I realized I didn't have but 10 "Christmas" songs on my phone.  I figured this out when I tried to make a holiday playlist to get in the mood.  Then I got to thinking: what is Christmas music really?  Joy to the World, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree...?

Then I thought, maybe it would be clearer what Christmas music is if we remember what Christmas is about.  (HINT: CHRISTmas...) So songs like In Christ Alone (Owl City has a beautiful cover).  What about those?

Then I created a new playlist: ones with calmer, more worshipful songs.  Ah, that's my kind of Christmas.  Who needs the speedy music anyways, this season is hectic enough already.

Until next time,
:)

Watch out: you might get smacked with a ...... blessing?

I am incredibly blessed.  I mean, blessed beyond blessed.

It's easy to get caught up in everything that's not my way: classes aren't easy, daily life is hectic, things happening at odd/continuous hours, and on and on.  But in the middle of this I have the most incredible man in my life, and by all awesomeness, we have the same name.  :)

He makes me so incredibly exceedingly happy.  He makes me feel OK to be me.  He's my teammate and best friend.  We've only known each other for a few months, but we just click.

So here's to a magnificent man who makes me smile and sends me a text hoping my day is going well.

I'm truly blessed.  100%.

Until next time,
:D

Mystery Construction

Does anyone remember when new construction was coming in and there would be a sign at the construction site (pretty much as soon as they broke ground) saying what what was going to be coming in? I do, and I loved it.  Partly because I'm nosy and I want to know what's going on.  The other part is I like getting excited about new things.  And now I don't really get to.  I've noticed the appalling recent lack of signage.  Murfreesboro built a new Goodwill recently.  No sign until they were hiring.

I don't know.  Seems to me that a company would want all the exposure they can get to build anticipation.  But who knows.

Until next time,
:)

There's a driving food chain

I'm not sure if many of you have noticed, but there's a food chain in the motor vehicle world.  For instance, a semi will beat a compact car.  Every. Time.  Yet still all the time I see people play chicken with 18 wheelers.  Let's do math.  They're bigger by multiples.  Therefore they'll take longer to stop.  So if you cut in front of them.........

It still surprises me when traffic backs up around railroad tracks, how many people will sit on the tracks.  ON THE TRACKS.  How many times will cars have to be demolished before we get it??  If a train can demolish an 18 wheeler and you're in a car....yeesh.  Just take a couple seconds and make sure you have room on the other side.  If you get stuck by the train, so you'll lose a few minutes.  But you'll live.

That's my soapbox for the day.

Until next time,
:)

Everyone needs to BACK off the eBay auction I'm winning!

Have you ever noticed that someone almost always has to come along on an auction you've bid on and try to steal the item away?  Can't they see I want it so they should back off right?!?!  Just kidding.  I know that's now how it works.  I've won many auctions out from under other people.  Like the auction I won recently.  Someone outbid me and I sniped them with 2 seconds to spare.  BAM!

I really like eBay, but I get all invested in what I'm bidding on that it's hard not to get all upset when someone else comes along and thinks it's cool too.  I saw it first!!!  (Sound anything like "MOOOOOOOMMMMMMYYYYYY she looked at me!!!!!"?? :)

I just have to keep in mind the following: it won't be the last _____ (fill in the blank) ever on eBay.  I just wasn't meant to have that particular one.

I guess the point it, I can see it from both sides.  I've sniped and been sniped.  Heart racing and heart breaking.

Happy bidding :)

Until next time,
:)

And we give these people a license to drive?!?!

First, this post is being composed on my iPad, so while I'll spell check like normal, please have mercy on me :)

OK: for those of you who know me, you know I'm walking on thin ice trying to say something about someone else's driving habits. For the sake of full disclosure, a few statistics about me: I've been pulled over 8 times in the 9 years since I turned 16. 6 of 8 were for speeding. I just turned 25 and in my age, and you know all that blah blah blah about growing up and slowing down and driving like a sane person. Boring, and enough about me.

Now that I drive slower I have time to watch other drivers more closely, and I have found that people can't drive.

You wouldn't believe the people who can't work a 4 way stop. I'm not trying to be hateful, but if you get to a 4 way stop and you're the only one. You GO. It's really not necessary to sit and wait for someone else to show up.

Stop lights with no turn arrows. They're either green or red. If you're turning left, you have to wait. If you're going straight or right, you have right of way, GO. Do not wave left turners on. Get the heck out of the way before the light turns red.

Parallel parking. Tee hee. I won't lie to you. I can parallel park like a boss. I was upset when I didn't have to do that in my drivers test. That should really be required in a drivers test. Because people cannot parallel park. I've seen people try...with no other cars around!

And my favorite pet peeve: do not cut in front of something bigger than you. Mind the food chain. If you're a Honda, an 18 wheeler will kill you. And remember the Physics: they have more to stop. Calm down.

We'll I think that'll do it for my soapbox of the day.

Until next time,
:)

Purpose of this blog

I have a couple blogs (okay more than that).  Each of them has a specific purpose, and I find myself needing a spot to....well vent, both positive and negative.  Hopefully I'll be able to mostly put a funny spin on it.  I like to be funny. :)

It will have the same purpose as my Twitter account, but I get more than 140 characters :)

Well, see ya next time.

Until next time,
:)
