Highway Emergency Pull over spots

I am highly amused by those little emergency pullover areas on the interstate.  

I can see it now "Oh hey, I have a flat tire, but there's a pullover in 1/4 mile.  I can just wait til then to pull over" 

Yeah.  Right.  

Ooo Ooo Ooo here's a good one: "I'm out of gas.  My car will surely find some more gas to get me to the pullover"

I'm probably mocking some high-level person who thought of these, but they just strike me as funny.
